A multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and sound engineer Yuri Morozov, was born an experimentalist, a man of talent in many fields, directly or indirectly tied to creativity. Over the years of his life Morozov had recorded more than five dozen of music albums, some of which still remain little known, not to mention the surviving archives and rough recordings. During 70s and 80s, in the era of USSR’s underground DIY tape production, some of his albums were actively distributed in the format of magnetic-tape albums, some were destined to see the light on vinyl and, later, on CDs. However, to this day, most of the musician’s discography remains officially unreleased.
«Night Jazz» is an intrinsic testimony of how, in 1978, during one of their sleepless nights, a group of fellows with limited toolset and musical instruments, led by Yuri Morozov, and driven only by their creative impulse, were able to pan out a conceptual album of great workmanship. This music is an interface of such genres as avant-garde, free jazz, psychedelic rock, and even industrial!
We bring to your attention a compilation of cuts recorded during this same night session. The material was selected in such a manner, that all chief compositions remain intact, but the emphasis, along with the intended mood, was shifted towards free jazz, oriental and Asian motifs, therefore creating a void free and hypnotic piece of musical canvas for your unputdownable listening pleasure.
