Soviet Grail presents the first ever official release on LP of one of the earliest magnetic tape albums by the legendary multi-instrumentalist, composer and sound engineer Yuri Morozov. The «Cretin Wedding» opens a number of releases dedicated to the key albums in the extensive discography of the talented musician.
Side A of the LP opens with Yuri Morozov's magnetic-tape album under the name of «Cretin Wedding». It was written and recorded from 1974 to 1976, and it is one of the quintessential examples of high-quality folk music, hard and psychedelic rock of the Leningrad scene era. Some songs’ heavy guitar fuzz via home-made pedals and adamant percussion beats straddle along with folk rock ballads and melodic acoustic guitars sounds. The vocal parts and the lyrics are every bit as good as the depth of perception of the album’s musical component.
Side B consists of a magnetic-tape album with live performances from 1976 by the Band in the Memory of Mikhail Kudryavtsev, which can be rightfully considered the predecessor of «Cretin Wedding», since most of these compositions were subsequently refined and incorporated into the full-length album by Yuri Morozov. These live recordings are notable for their drive and vibe − total separation of virtuoso musicians from the reality. It is impossible not to be enraptured by the music’s overall feel, while long instrumental psychedelic opuses only reinforce this effect.
