Soviet Grail presents the first official release on LP and CD of a magnetic tape album by one of the pioneering experimentalists, a master of tape manipulation and a real guru of sound synthesis, until recently hardly known even to sophisticated collectors and fans of electronic music.
At the end of the 70s of the last century, a native of the Kazakh SSR got so carried away by the creativity of Kraftwerk and other electronic bands of the era, that he was utterly enticed by the makeup of synthesizers. Down the road Ganzha enhanced his passion. He thoroughly studied synthesizers from ground up, and then started creating his own models, proceeding to the so-called simulation and synthesis of sounds. The results of Ganzha’s real time tests and experiments were recorded on tape. These cuts, amassed between 1983 and 1984, were compiled into an album called «Electroabsurd», which had given the same name to the musician’s own genre.
It happened so that, unbeknownst to the world around him and even himself, Vadim Ganzha had started an actual revolution in music, which was acknowledged only post factum. After all, who could have imagined back in the 80s, that in one of the Soviet republics (cut off from the rest of the world by an iron curtain) there would later emerge something, that would be described in modern terms as «proto-techno» or «paranoid disco». Pretty impressive, isn’t it? And for good reason, for you are holding in your hands a unique example of Soviet musical futurism, released on vinyl for the first time ever.
